Brescia, 31st of March 2009 With an additional investment of about USD 4.4 million, MicroVentures reinforces its participation into Equitas Microfinance India Pvt Ltd, microfinance institution based in Chennai. Since its first investment (August 2008) MicroVentures has taken active part the the strategic management of the MFI, through the presence of a representative in the Board of Directors. Equitas in only one year and a half of operations has reached a portfolio of about USD 42 million, disbursed to more tha 240.000 women client, mantaining an excellent credit quality and getting to its full sustainability: a performance that makes it an outstanding best case at global level. The equity increase will sustain the services expansion plans, wich will soon reach areas outside the borders of Tamil Nadu.
